Undergraduate Programs
Global Affairs is an interdisciplinary academic unit that introduces students to the processes of globalization that affects all societies. Students are able to pursue undergraduate degrees in Global Affairs and Russian and Eurasian Studies as well as minors in Global Affairs and area studies minors, including Latin American Studies, Middle East Studies, and Asia-Pacific Studies. All students will gain a sophisticated understanding of complex issues that affect the world such as global inequality, refugee crises, terrorism, conflict, and health and environmental challenges. Coursework provides a knowledge foundation of the political, economic, cultural, and environmental processes. Students can pursue concentration or elective coursework that help them tailor the degree to their interests and careers goals. Students in this unit are encouraged to participate in study abroad opportunities, internships, and other hands-on learning experiences.
Graduate Programs
Global Affairs offers a master's degree in Global Affairs and in Middle East and Islamic Studies, which also offers a graduate certificate. These interdisciplinary programs offer students the opportunity to engage in the advanced study of a broad range of global issues. Students pursue interdisciplinary core courses and then complete specialization or elective coursework that help them create a graduate degree that fits their interests and goals.
Bachelor’s/Accelerated Master’s Programs
Highly qualified undergraduates in any major are invited to apply to the Accelerated Master's Programs in Global Affairs or Middle East and Islamic Studies. If accepted, students will be able to earn an undergraduate degree in their chosen major and a graduate degree in global affairs after satisfactory completion of 138 credits, generally within five years.
